weighty and timid, the ways in which we make ourselves available
survey the apartment in the quiet contemplation of an opening act
all staged so subtly with vested interest in the positions

the soft plaits of our hopes in waves over the back of the second hand couch
and there in the dry winter air that rattles between us
in the genesis of this year we build such precious and trembling set pieces
